# 2657  2014-15 Winter Commitments

As the year ends, more players finish up their college decisions and commitments.

- Another current freshman has announced his verbal commitment. Victor midfielder Andrew Russell announced his intent to study and play at Virginia after his graduation in 2018

- Gananda face off specialist, Remmy Glod, recently announced his decision to play at Roberts Wesleyan after his graduation in 2016.

- Junior attackman Matt Malone, has made his commitment to Le Moyne College (Syracuse) after his graduation from Pittsford in 2016.

- After spending his eighth grade and freshman year with the Lightning Varsity, current sophomore goalie Gavin Catalano announced this week that he has made a verbal commitment to St. John`s University (New York City) after his graduation from Arcadia in 2017.

- Another Pittsford junior has made a commitment to study and play at Le Moyne College (Syracuse) after graduation in 2016. Junior defenseman Will Pieterse, has made his commitment recently after considering Hobart, Siena, Mercyhurst and Canisius.

- Senior attackman, John Bowman has announced his decision to attend and play lacrosse for the SUNY Brockport Golden Eagles after his final season Wayne Central this spring.

- Le Moyne College picked up another Section Five player when junior defenseman and long stick midfielder, Cole Guest announced his commitment. Currently there are four juniors and two seniors planning to play for the Dolphins after graduation. Four more are freshmen at Le Moyne this year.

- Fairport senior offensive player, Connor Riorden, announced today that he will be attending and playing lacrosse at Lycoming College after his graduation next spring.

- Fairport sophomore defenseman, Michael Kozar, announced this week that he has made a verbal commitment to attend and play lacrosse at SUNY Albany after his graduation in 2017.

- Wayne Central Senior Midfielder, Jake Moss has announced his decision to attend and play lacrosse for the SUNY Morrisville State Mustangs. Jake has been a Varsity player for the Eagles since his Sophomore year. Last year he recorded 20g-13a and will start this season with a career record of 30g-18a.

- Siena College received an end of the year gift as Penn Yan junior offensiveman, Sean Emerson announced his commitment to the Saints after his graduation in 2016.

- Senior defenseman Alex deNormand has announced his decision to attend and play lacrosse for the Alfred University Saxons after his graduation from Victor High School next spring.

- Senior defenseman/LSM Cory Mason has announced his decision to attend and play lacrosse at Mercyhurst University after his graduation from Victor High School next spring.

- Victor Junior midfielder Dan Barrow has announced his commitment to attend and play lacrosse at Mercyhurst University after his graduation from Victor High School in 2016.

Gananda Central senior midfielder, Nick Rapp has announced his decision to attend and play lacrosse for the St. John Fisher Cardinals. Nick has been a Varsity starter for the Panthers since his Freshman year. Last year he recorded 12g-36a and scored in eighteen of the Blue Panther games. He will start this season with a career record of 34g-74a. Story continues.

- Sophomore defenseman Connor Haims recently announced his verbal commitment to study and play lacrosse for the University of Vermont. Story continues.

- Sophomore defenseman Bryce Saba recently announced his verbal commitment to study and play lacrosse for Syracuse University. Story continues.

- Senior midfielder Ethan Marchitell has announced his decision to attend and play lacrosse at Post University (Waterbury, Connecticut) after graduation from Canandaigua this spring. Story continues.

- He will be going off to college, but not far, when junior attackman Zeus Doser graduates from Hilton and head off down the road to Roberts Wesleyan College. Story continues.

- Senior attackman/midfielder Bailey Eigbrett has announced his decision to study and play lacrosse at the Tate University at Canton after his final year, this spring, at Avon. Story continues.

- Junior midfielder Hunter Duford has made a verbal commitment to study and play lacrosse at the Virginia Military Academy (VMI) after his graduation in 2016 from Hilton. Story continues.

- Davis Bird recently announced that he will be heading to Ithaca after his final season this spring as a goalie for the Webster Thomas Titans. Story continues.

- Canandaigua Academy senior brothers, Kyle and Zach Landrigan have announced their decision to attend Alfred University where their father and uncle were both stars for the Saxons. Story continues.

- Like a number of other local players, junior offensiveman, Joseph O`Hare will stay close to home after his commitment to attend and play for the Redhawks of Roberts Wesleyan. Story continues.

- Penn Yan junior goalie recently announced his commitment to play lacrosse and study at Sienna College (Loudon, NY) after his graduation in 2016. Story continues.

# 1057  Titans Beat Pats

Webster Thomas scored the first three goals of the contest and never trailed in their 12-8 victory over Penfield. The Titans were in complete control of the game and led by six at the beginning of the fourth quarter. Thomas also spread out their scoring with five different players scoring two goals each and seven total players making the scorebook. Conversely, Penfield had five of their goals come from junior attackman Max Spaan. Spaan was responsible for 12 of Penfield's 30 total shots with only six total players taking shots in the entire game. Thomas had five players with over four shots with junior midfielder Kevin Hill leading with eight shots.

Pittsford`s heralded defense held up to their hype in their 7-4 win over Webster Thomas. The Titans kept the game close and even took the lead for a short time in the third quarter before the Panthers scored the final four goals in the game. Pittsford's defense held the Titans scoreless for the first 14:16 and the last 13:32.

Thomas scored the first eight goals of the game and led 11-1 in the third quarter in their 12-9 win over Aquinas. The Little Irish scored eight of the last nine goals, including the last five goals of the game. Thomas had eight different players make their scorebook with attackman Mitch Hutteman leading the charge at 1g-3a.

In one of the most excited games this season, Churchville-Chili scored the last three goals in regulation to force overtime before defeating Webster Thomas. Ryan Cosgrove scored his first goal of the game unassisted with 1:42 remaining in the first overtime period.

Canandaigua scored five unanswered goals spanning the end of the second and beginning of the third quarters in their 10-8 win over Webster Thomas. The Titans briefly held the lead in the first quarter, but the Braves tied the game for the last time with 8:58 remaining in the second quarter with the first of their five goals.

In a game that was closer than the score shows, Webster Thomas defeated Brighton 15-9. The Titans scored five of the last six goals spanning the last quarter and a half. The Barons were only down by two goals (10-8) when Thomas started a five goal streak. Three goals came in the last three minutes of the third quarter and two more to start the fourth quarter.

In a game that was close throughout, Fairport held off the late advances from Webster Thomas to win 8-6. The Red Raider scored half their points in a four goal unanswered set from the first and second quarters.

The All Star list is out recognizing the Monroe County League players for the 2014 season. Senior midfielder Eric Munn (Canandaigua) and defenseman Nick Panara (Pittsford) were named US Lacrosse Academic All Americans. Junior midfielder Kevin Hill (Thomas) along with senior attackmen Trevor Hodgins (Churchville-Chili), Justin Kesselring (Fairport-A/M) and Stephen Quinzi (Pittsford) were selected as US Lacrosse All Americans.

Webster Thomas has the only game in town today as they hosted Frontier from Section Six. After scoring the first first goals, they finished the half at 9-1 while senior goalie, Davis Bird made two saves (67%) and junior goalie Ben Yonko made three saves (100%) for the Titans.

Thomas scored five unanswered goals spanning the second and third quarters to defeat Penn Yan 8-7. The Titans and Mustangs have played six times in the last five years and with the Thomas win, the series is now tied 3-3. Penn Yan was held scoreless for 19:36 from late in the second quarter to early in the fourth quarter.

NOTES:  Thomas continued their winning streak having won the last 11 contests (including three by only a single goal). The Titan's only two losses of the season have been with undefeated Victor and previously undefeated Pittsford. The Titans held off a late scoring drive by Penfield to defeat the Patriots 8-7.

NOTES:  In a game that was plagued by penalties, second seeded Webster Thomas defeated sixth seeded Irondequoit 14-12. The first half was relatively tame with two personal penalties and one technical. However, in the second half there were nine personals and seven technical. Although Irondequoit scored the opening goal, the Titans tied or led the game for 47:52 of the 48:00 contest.

# 685  Victor Repeats at Section Five Champ

Victor scored seven unanswered goals on their way to a 20-8 win over Webster Thomas. The game was close for the first quarter before a weather delay between the first and second quarters. Coming out of the delay, Victor scored five unanswered goals to increase their lead to 9-2. The Blue Devils had 10 players make their offensive scorebook with Drew Collins leading with 4g-2a. Mike DeMarco (4g-1a), Jamie Trimboli (3g-1a) and Ryan Maloney (2g-2a) added to the scorebook for Victor.

Senior midfielder Brandon Barker (Pittsford) along with senior attackman Max Spaan (Penfield) and senior goalie Willie Klan (Penfield) selected as US Lacrosse All Americans. Juniors Jared Conners(Pittsford-LSM), T.D. Ierlan (Victor mid/fo) and Jamie Trimboli (Victor - mid) were also named as US Lacrosse All Americans.

# 171  Patrick Donnelly Selects Ithaca

Patrick Donnelly, a defenseman for Webster Schroeder, recently announced his decision to continue his studies while playing lacrosse at Ithaca College. The National Honor Society senior member picked up thirty-five ground balls, recorded five takes and made one assist in his junior year with the Warriors.
